Send me mail!

28 10 2010

So I finally have my mailing address!  The address is actually the Peace Corps Office in Dar es Salaam.  Once they get my mail/package, they will deliver it to me.  If you do plan to send me mail, just shoot me a text message first to make sure I’m looking out for the package.  Obviously mail here isn’t reliable, so I want to make sure I can track the package down if I need to!  The address is 36 Zambia Rd, PO Box 9123 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  Also, write PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER on the front of the letter/package as it gives it a better chance to make it here.  My address and phone number are also posted on the side of my blog.

Happy Halloween to you too! I didn’t really get to celebrate this year because the idea of Halloween is really non-existent here so… booo!

Hi. It’s your third cousin, Sandy. Your Aunt Lynn told me about your trip and your blog. I wish you all the luck in Africa wherever you are and I admire you for the work you’re doing. If you’re ever in the Congo, just let me know. Dikembe Mutombo, the former NBA star, has built a hospital in the Congo in memory of his mother so I would be happy to introduce you and get you a tour if you like as we know Dikembe and his organization personally. Take care of yourself and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. Keep us posted on your progress and journeys.

Sandy, good to hear from another family member! Thank you so much for the well wishes. Reading everyones emails and comments here is really pretty theraputic on days that are difficult. I will definitely let you know if I get a chance to go to the Congo! Right now we are still in training but in the next month or two I’ll have a better idea of when I can travel. I had no idea that Dikembe was so active with service work; that’s awesome to hear. Do you have more information on his organization that I can read?? Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Glenn. Long time no see. I was talking with your mom. What an amazing thing you are doing. We are so proud. I look forward to following you during your time there. What a life changing experience. I’ll make sure this goes through and will write to you more later if you want. Best wishes for you.

Polly, so good to hear from you! Its already been an eye opening experience and its only been a month and a half… Please do write to me again! As I’ve mentioned before I really enjoy reading comments/emails from other people and keeping me in touch with whats going on. It helps me to not feel quite so diconnected! Anyway, it’s exciting finally getting to teach. I do remember you always telling me that I should considering teaching, so we’ll see how it goes!
